About Your Celebrant

My story

Kia ora, tēnā koutou katoa, hello there and a very warm welcome. My name is Erin Hill, and I would love to be your celebrant and see how I can mould your story into a ceremony, unique to you.

Ian and I have three adult children, who are now fabulously independent and managing their own lives. So as empty nesters, we decided to pursue a life in the alpine climate here in Queenstown. After spending three years designing and building our home high above Lake Hayes Pavilion, we are very happy with the result.

We originally lived in Auckland, and in 1997 I established an event management business, running events and holding weddings on our beautiful vineyard. Built on the upper reaches of the Waitemata Harbour. I dreamed of creating a romantic setting by relocating an old church on to the vineyard, renovating it and offering this as an extension to the package. Sadly, we sold the property in 2017 as the city sprawl reached us, so the little old church idea never eventuated.

As you can see, I am a true romantic at heart, and felt training as a Celebrant would be a great extension to my already steady event manager’s hand. In February 2019, I graduated from the Celebrant School and in April 2019 was appointed by the Registrar General to be a Celebrant. I am currently trained to offer marriages and civil unions, elopements, vow renewals, and naming’s. I am completely dedicated to creating unforgettable bespoke ceremonies.

My interests are supporting Ian and our children’s adventures, fostering new friendships, still enjoying the old ones, boating, water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, cooking, gardening, the love of Italy…… its people, its food, its design, its architecture, and its language.

I am involved in many sectors of the community. I am relishing my newfound passion and continuing education learning te reo Māori.
